Over the years we have installed a number of Hills ComNav’s to Reliance systems. The ComNav enables the user to access a simple programming interface to add users, change codes, check the history etc but the ComNav also enables the user to Arm/Disarm their alarm system all via a smart phone app called XConnect.
XConnect has now been replaced by UltraConnect.
One of the most requested features of the ComNav is notifications. The ComNav has always been able to send out alerts via text message but hasn’t been able to send out notifications to your smart phone. Well that is until now.
With the software change from XConnect to UltraConnect users can now set up alerts so that they can receive notifications to their smart phone. Below we will go through the steps on how you can update from XConnect to UltraConnect.
Unfortunately due to the number of requests we have received for technical assistance in setting up the UltraConnect app, we can only offer this service to existing and new clients of Ranges Alarms / Ranges Security. If you need technical assistance you will need to contact your installer.
Step 1: Download UltraConnect from the app store or play store depending on your phone type.
Step 2: While the app is downloading open up the XConnect App. Next to the site name you will see a white arrow in a blue surround. Tap on that which will then open up the site info screen.
Note down all the details including Site Name, Serial number, Passcode (If you don’t have this call us on 0421016897), Username and pin (your 4 digit code you use to arm and disarm the alarm system).
Step 3: Open up the UltraConnect App
Step 4: Tap on the + symbol in the top right hand corner
Step 5: Enter all the details that you got from the XConnect App. Make sure you tap on the Notification Services and select ON. Another screen will open up which will have email@example.com (make sure push notifications is on).
Step 5: Tap on the Site Info tab, then tap on Sites to return to the main screen
Step 6: To access your security system tap on the system name which will then open up a screen which will look similar to the XConnect App screen.
Thats it! You should now successfully have UltraConnect set up on your phone and can now receive notifications directly from your alarm system to your smartphone.
